Willie Thomas “Pretty Boy” Hughes entered eternal rest on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his dedicated wife and family. He was the son of the late Mr. Charlie and Mrs. Louise Williams Hughes and was also proceeded in death by two sons, Larry Burnham and Troy Williams and a sister, Marjorie Mercer.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 11, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Beach River Funeral Home Chapel, 310 E. Grice St., Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Interment will be in the Hughes Family Cemetery, Shiloh, North Carolina. A public walk-through viewing will be on Friday, September 10, 2021 at the funeral home. Masks are still required for all services.
Willie leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving wife of forty-nine years, Coneal Hughes of the home; his children, Tonya Harris, Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Teal Franklin (Sam), Richmond, Virginia, Lori Whidbee, Durham, North Carolina, and Kirk Williams (Faye), Elizabeth City, North Carolina; his siblings, Lucille Gallop, Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Charlie Hughes, Jr. (Linda), Clarence Hughes (Lucinda) and Brenda Poole (James) all of Shiloh, North Carolina, Rita Clemens (Mike), Wendell, North Carolina, Rosyln Cruell, Maryland, Sharon Sullivan, Durham, North Carolina and Valerie Gallop (Greg), Petersburg, Virginia; eight grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; two Aunts, Georgia Boone and Mary Stokes of Delaware and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
