Timothy Arnell James, affectionately known as Tim, Timmy or Lil Tim, entered eternal rest

on Thursday, March 2nd, 2023 at his residence in Newport News, Virginia.

Celebration of Life services will be Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 12 noon at Bay Branch AME Zion Church, Belvidere, NC. (308 Bay Branch Rd) Masks are still required for all services.

Timothy was born July 27, 1958 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina to Tim E. James and the late

Lillian Hollowell James. He served in the United States Marine Corps and often spoke proudly of his time spent as a Marine. He served dual roles of infantryman and logistics and rose to the rank of Lance Corporal.

 Timothy is preceded in death by his mother, Lillian H. James. He leaves to cherish his memory

his father, Tim E. James of Elizabeth City, NC; one son, Timmy Batten of Smithfield, VA; 3

grandchildren, Kendall, Javon, and Sarai; 3 sisters, Arlisa Kirton of Norfolk, VA, Kisha Hartwick

(Trevor) of Greenville, SC, Erica Culbreath (Edward) of Herndon, VA;,. He had a special place

in the hearts of his aunts and uncles, Minnie E. James of Elizabeth City, NC; George P.

Hollowell (Margaret) of Elkton, MD, Marvis Clark (O’Langston) of Carneys Point, NJ, Battina H.

Alrazi of Belvidere, NC, Ella H. Jackson of Chesapeake, VA, and Elton Hollowell (Balinda) of

Belvidere, NC. Timothy loved and adored his niece and 3 nephews, Lily, Jalen, Isaac, and

Isaiah. He will be greatly missed by a host of cousins, friends, and classmates.
