Shelby Hosein Obituary

“Did you ever know that you're my hero? You're everything I wish I could be. I could fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings.”

Shelby Darlene Jones Hosein - dedicated wife, mother of three, veteran, and friend of many - passed away on March 29, 2024, at the age of 67 in Orlando, Florida surrounded by her family and close friends.

Shelby was born on January 25, 1957, to the late Ralph Jones Sr. and Ethel Hazel Smith Jones in Moyock, North Carolina. Shelby loved the Lord and she was baptized at Christian Home Baptist Church in Moyock, North Carolina where she received first communion, and was spiritually and emotionally nurtured by weekly services, Sunday school, church potlucks, children’s choir, and taught bible study to children.

Shelby attended Currituck Union School in Barco, North Carolina and graduated from JP Knapp High School in Currituck, North Carolina.  She also attended the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) in Warwick, Rhode Island and received her degree in Early childhood Education.

Shelby faithfully served her country as a personal record specialist in the United States Army from 1979- 1985.  In her earlier years, she worked as an EKG technician at a hospital in Miami, Florida and worked as a Correctional Officer for the Department of Corrections in Chesapeake, Virginia and the Adult Correctional Institution in Cranston Rhode Island.

In 1980, Shelby Darlene Jones married the late Ansil Hosein in Fort Riley, Kansas. Together they shared 42 years of love and friendship. They have three wonderful children Tameka, Tanesha and Ansil Jr.

Shelby was known to be the life of every party and an avid New England Patriots fan. She loved shopping, traveling, cooking and baking. Shelby also had a green thumb and loved working in her garden growing collard greens, lemon trees, and assorted vegetables. Shelby enjoyed her retirement to the fullest and used her time productively to focus on her family, helping others, and hobbies. Shelby also owned one of the most impressive Hummel collections, which are porcelain figurines made in Germany.
