Geneva Mae (Thompson) Mendoza

Mrs. Geneva Mae thompson Mendoza formerly of Elizabeth City, North Carolina entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at MacGregor Downs Health Center by Harborview in Greenville, North Carolina.  She was the youngest of four children born to the late John Richard Thompson and the late Mattie Elizabeth Perry Thompson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John Richard Thompson, Jr. and Casper G. Thompson (her best friend); sister, Ella Louise Thompson Collins; brother-in-law, George Lee Collins; sister-in-law, Gertrude Effie Koonce Thompson; and nephew, John R. Thompson III.

Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, January 20, 2024, 12:00 noon at Beach River Funeral Home Chapel, Elizabeth City, North Carolina.  Interment will be in the Dove;s Landing Cemetery, Elizabeth City, North Carolina.  A viewing/visitation will be 1 hour prior to the start of service at the funeral home.

Sorrowfully mourning her loss is one daughter, Sheila Diane Mendoza; son in love, Henry V. Jackson Jr.; two nephews, Wayne E. Thompson (Shirley) and J. Kenneth Thompson; two nieces, Terry V. Thompson Thomas (Bradley) and Jeffrie Ann Thompson Holloway (Ralph); several great nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, E. Louise Thompson;  many cousins including Chris and Collette Ferguson of Valley Springs, California and many friends.
