Mr. Ellis Lee Temple entered eternal rest on June 9, 2022 at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City,
North Carolina. Ellis was born January 29, 1943 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina to the late Archie L. Temple
and the late Queenie V. Temple. He was pre-deceased in death by his late wife, Viola R. Temple, his brothers,
Donnie Temple and Wally Temple, and his sister, Grace Hyder.
Celebration of Life Services will be Wednesday, June 15, 3:00 p.m. at Beach River Funeral Home Chapel,
Elizabeth City, North Carolina with Rev. Kevin McDonald as Eulogist. Viewing and Family Visitation will be
Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Memory Gardens
Cemetery, Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Masks are still required for all services.
Ellis leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Kevin L. Whitley (Porche), of Cameron, North Carolina and a
stepdaughter, Michelle Cole, of Sanford, North Carolina; one brother, Bobby Temple (Sheila), of Brentwood,
New York; two sisters, Stella Goff, Elizabeth City, North Carolina and Paulette Temple, of Holly Springs, North
Carolina; one brother-in-law, Roy Hyder, Elizabeth City, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Christian Whitley
and Daniel Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special friend, Juanita LaMaupin.
