Obituary

“May the work I’ve done speak for me! When I’m resting in my grave, there is nothing that can be said may the work I’ve done speak for me.  The works I’ve done they seem so small, sometimes it seems like nothing at all.  But when I stand before my God, I want to him here say “well done”.  May the Work I’ve done, Speak for me.

Mrs. Carlas Moore Mullen entered eternal rest on January 8, 2022 at the residence of her son in N. Chesterfield, Virginia.  She was the daughter of the late John Moore and the late Edna Hunter Moore and the wife of the late Ernest Lee Mullen.   

She is also pre-deceased by one son, Douglas Mullen (Paulette); one brother, brother, Curtis Moore (Ethel); four sisters: Golden Warren (William), Emma Jane Allen (George) Ina Simons (Walter), and Montze Watson Armstrong (Burrus).  

She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Larry Keith Mullen (Sylvia), Ernest Eugene Mullen (Annie), and John Quincy Mullen; one  daughter, Alice Mullen White (Keith); ten grandchildren, Christina Mullen Custis (David) & Ernest Vincent Mullen (whom she helped to raise), Keith Uriah Mullen (Kristin), Alicia Mullen Bell (Randy), Eugene Mullen (Teresa), Lopez Mullen(LaShonda), Kanesha Mullen, Ebony Jordan, Ladon Jordan, Jaron Jordan: sixteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-laws, Evelyn McPherson and Gloria Mullen; one brother-in-law Wesley Mullen; two loving nieces, Ina Barnes and Donna Cartwright; nieces, Edna Harris, Yvonnie Warren, Lillie Warren; four nephews, John Anthony Allen, Sylvester Watson, Timothy Warren and Lee Curtis Warren; great nieces, Ila Cartwright, Dorothy Cartwright, Melba Holland, Nicole Barnes, Kim Leak and others; great-nephews, Calvin Hicks Jr, Roy Barnes, Alexis Allen and others; special great-great nephew, Levi Barnes and others, special great-great nieces; Megan and Monique Holland and others; Carlas’s former daughter-in-law Shelia Meekins; cousins including Rita Jordan (Charles)and others and a host of church family and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be Saturday, January 15, 2022 12:00 noon at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, Elizabeth City, NC with the Rev. Carray Banks, Eulogist.  Interment will be in the West Lawn Cemetery, Elizabeth City, NC.  A public walk-through viewing will be Friday, January 14, 2022 from 5 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Masks are still required for all services.
